Cherry Hill Personal Injury Lawyers: Firework Safety this Holiday

The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and Americans across the country will be celebrating the holiday with fireworks; however, the National Safety Council is encouraging people to watch professional fireworks displays and refrain from setting off their own fireworks at home. According to a study conducted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), an average of 230 people per day were treated for fireworks injuries between June 20 and July 20 in 2014, accounting for 67 percent of all fireworks injuries that year. Additionally, nine people were fatally injured in fireworks-related accidents in 2014.

Not surprisingly, more than half of fireworks-related injuries are burns. Even sparklers, which are often given to children, burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees, and can result in serious burns. Bottle rockets, roman candles and other firecrackers can also cause severe injuries and significant property damage.

Fireworks injuries can result in permanent scars, disfigurements, and disabilities. If you or a loved one has been seriously injured in a fireworks accident, you may be entitled to financial compensation for your injuries.
